YES, THAT'S RIGHT! I AM!
Or rather, I'm going to be a published poet, but I'm not really sure what the term for that is. Anyways, I entered a contest a couple of months ago and submitted a poem in it. I didn't really expect anything and then last Friday, my friend told me I would get a letter.
The fortune-teller she is, it happened and TADAH! I'M GOING INTO A BOOK! INTO A REA
A BOOK.
I'M IN A BOOK.
WHAT COULD BE MORE AWESOME?
I didn't post this before because I was afraid I'll jinx myself and lose the reply envelope. Which I nearly did, but yay! I sent it.
<strike>Did I mention I'm going to be in a book?</strike>
The only unawesome thing about this is that it costs $14.95 to put my name and such in it, so I can't do that. I hope they put my name at least, instead of just writing "A student" or something.
I'M SO EXCITED, ANYWAYS.
P.S. I'm going to Anime North in May and I hope I have enough money for the convention. I really want to buy a huge Mokona Plushie. Though, I'm planning on dressing up as either Kero from Cardcaptors or Kanda from D.Grayman. Either I'm a lion with wings or I'm a guy (who I've seen done often). I'm kinda leaning towards Kero because on the second day there's a Clamp Photoshoot, but...hmm...Which one is better?
P.P.S. Here's the poem.
Disappointment
A heavy, sinking feeling
Chest tight,
(Breath, breath, breath)
Throat closed,
(Air, no air, where's the air?)
Eyes burning, tears glimmer
(Don't cry, stand strong, don't cry)
"I'm fine" you say--you lie
Stomach falls, a bottomless pit
Where's the ground? Gravity is gone,
A weightless feeling
(Where are my wings?)
Reality sinks in, a bitter taste
Something bursts,
(Another dream broken, another dream lost)
A ticking sound fills your ears,
At first muffled, filters in,
Then louder and louder
The ticking is a clock,
The seconds fly by,
And the sands of time continue to flow
(Breathing starts again)
A heavy, sinking feeling
Chest tight,
(Breath, breath, breath)
Throat closed,
(Air, no air, where's the air?)
Eyes burning, tears glimmer
(Don't cry, stand strong, don't cry)
"I'm fine" you say--you lie
Stomach falls, a bottomless pit
Where's the ground? Gravity is gone,
A weightless feeling
(Where are my wings?)
Reality sinks in, a bitter taste
Something bursts,
(Another dream broken, another dream lost)
A ticking sound fills your ears,
At first muffled, filters in,
Then louder and louder
The ticking is a clock,
The seconds fly by,
And the sands of time continue to flow
(Breathing starts again)
Isn't it AWESOME?
(Well, not really, but I'm allowed to think so.)
(Luckily, I had a week to contain this excitement.)
